A customer recently brought their car into our workshop because the clutch had been severely slipping for 12 months. Upon inspection, we found that the Dual Mass Flywheel was significantly worn out with approximately 45% movement—far exceeding the normal 2% maximum. The clutch disc was burnt with numerous hot spots, and the pressure plate, rear main seal, and concentric slave cylinder all required replacement. This vehicle had driven 240,000 kms on the odometer and still factory clutch.

This vehicle was towed into our Howard workshop after the customers experienced clutch failure en route from Bundaberg to Brisbane for a week-long holiday. The slipping clutch rendered the car undrivable. Upon inspection, we found that the clutch had worn down to the rivets, necessitating machining of the flywheel and replacement of the rear main seal plus replace the clutch kit. As RACQ members, they benefited from a loan car for the week, allowing them to continue their holiday seamlessly and pick up their repaired vehicle upon return. This vehicle had driven 187,000 kms on the odometer and still factory clutch.

This vehicle was towed into our workshop in Howard because it would no longer shift into gear. Upon investigation, we discovered the pressure plate had split in half, and the friction plate was excessively worn, necessitating a complete replacement.
